On Tuesday (Oct. 17), Keyshia Ka’oir officially became KeyshiaDavis, wife of Gucci Mane, after the couple aired their extravagant wedding on BET for all of the world to witness. But before she became Gucci’s ride-or-die, Keyshiawas a Miami video vixen, who used her massive social media following to buildan empire.

As Keyshia and Gucci’s romance blossomed — and as Gucci was caught up in legal drama — Keyshiaremained loyal to the Atlanta star during his prison stint and probation periods. Upon his release from prison last year, the beauty mogul made sure Gucci’stransition was as smooth as possible. “He couldn’t leave the house for six months,” she told New York Post. “I would cook for him every day —healthy stuff. While Gucci Mane was in prison, he came across XXL’s “Eye Candy of the Year” issue, in which Keyshiawas featured. Gucci’s manager, Amina Diop, tracked down the then-video vixen and booked her for an upcoming video shoot Gucci had planned following his prison release.

“A day or two later, I got a call. Amina was like, ‘I work with Gucci, he wants you to —’and I’m like, ‘Whatever.’Because I don’t even want to be around rappers,” she told The Fader. “But Gucci kept askingand eventually I agreed. When he got out of jail, they flew me to Atlanta right away to do the ‘911 Emergency’video. That’s the day we met. He was in love with me on sight.”

Keyshia launched her own cosmetics line, Ka’oir, in 2010 starting off with vibrant colored lipsticks, which quickly became the model’s signature look. KeyshiaWas the Main Girl in Timbaland’s “Say Something” Video

Before meeting Gucci on the set of his “911 Emergency” video, Keyshiaflexed her acting chops as she played Timbaland‘s leading lady in the video for the producer’s 2009 hit “Say Something” featuring Drake. “This wasmy second video and absolutely one of my favorites,” she wrote on her blog. “I’ve been training and taking acting classes, so it was great to be able to display a bit of my hard work as an actress on set asa leading lady. I also liked the fact it felt like a movie and not just a video.”

She Fell in Love With Guwop When She “Bathed” Him

Speaking to Page Six during her press tour for the couple’s wedding special, Ka’oirrevealed that she realized she loved Gucci after joining the rapper on tour in 2010 and bathing him. “I went on tour with Gucci in 2010 —that is when it really started to get serious. I fell in love with Gucci when I bathed him…I put him in a shower and just bathed him. I just did things to him and he looked at me and said, ‘Wow, no one has ever bathed me before,’” she said in the interview. “I am a traditional Jamaican lady, that is what you do. You take care of your man.”

She later clarified her comments during an appearance on The Real and said that while she didn’t literally mean “put him in a bath tub and wash his back,” she says she has no problem doing so because that’s the reason Gucci put a ring on it.
